Local transport and public transport with the Oslo Card

The Oslo Card is more than just your entry ticket. With it you can travel in Oslo unlimited travel by bus, streetcar, T-bahn and ferry. This applies to zones 1 to 4 and for the entire entire period of validity. On this page you will find all the details and an important savings tip for the airport transfer.

These means of transportation are included

With the Oslo Card, you have unlimited and free use of all public transport on the Ruter network and free of charge for you. This applies within zones 1, 2, 3, 4N and 4V.

Metro T-bane

All lines, the entire route network within the standard zones.
Bus and streetcar

Ruter city and regional buses and all streetcar lines in Oslo.
Ferries

Ferry to the museum peninsula Bygdøy (April to December) and ferries to the islands in the Oslofjord.
Local trains from Vy

Regional Vy trains within zones 1 to 4, which also run to popular excursion destinations in the surrounding area.

Saving tip: cheap from Gardermoen airport to the city center

The Flytoget express train is not included in the Oslo Card. But: with a little trick you can still get the city cheaply.

Instead, use the regional trains of the Vy railroad company (lines R10, R11 or L12). With Oslo Card activated you only buy a cheap additional ticket („Tilleggsbillett“) at the ticket machine for the route outside the standard zones. This saves around 50 percent compared to the full Flytoget ticket. The journey from the airport to Oslo S Central Station takes around 22 minutes.

Note: Torp Sandefjord Airport is too far out and is not part of the covered zones.

Which zones are covered?

The Oslo Card covers router zones 1, 2, 3, 4V and 4N. This allows you to reach all highlights within Oslo as well as many destinations in the surrounding area. These include Lillestrøm in the east and Sandvika in the west. Gardermoen Airport is located on the edge of Zone 4 and can be reached with the additional ticket trick (see above).

How to use the card on public transport

The Oslo Card has been fully digital since 2024. You no longer need a physical card but download the official app onto your smartphone.

Voucher by e-mail After purchasing from Tiqets, you will immediately receive an activation code by e-mail.
Download app Download the official app „Oslo Pass - Official City Card“ from the App Store or Google Play.
Redeem code Enter the activation code in the app under „My Passes“.
Activate at the start of the trip Just before the first use, tap „Activate“ in the app. From this moment on, the countdown of 24, 48 or 72 hours starts.
Show QR code Simply show the QR code in the app at controls on the bus, streetcar or T-bane. You don't have to validate or scan anything.

Excursion destinations with the Oslo Card

With the Oslo Card, you are not only flexible in urban areas. You can also use the regional trains in zones 1 to 4 for free trips into the surrounding area.

Lillestrøm

10 to 15 minutes by train from Oslo. Cozy cafés, museums and access to nature. Ideal for a half-day excursion.
Sandvika

Charming small town west of Oslo with a pretty pedestrian zone, art galleries and access to the Oslofjord.
Kolbotn

Small village south of Oslo with beautiful walking paths and a popular swimming lake (Kolbotnvannet). Perfect for sunny days.
Bygdøy

The museum peninsula with Fram, Kon-Tiki and Folklore Museum. Accessible by public ferry from Rådhusbrygge (April to December).

By ferry across the Oslo Fjord

The public ferries are also included in the price. They depart from the Aker Brygge pier and take you to several islands in the Oslofjord. These small natural paradises are like like an oasis in the middle of the city. Island hopping is particularly worthwhile in summer.

With the Oslo Card you use the ferry to Bygdøy as well as the boats to the Nesodden peninsula and to Drøbak (the latter only in the summer months).
